Having an Encounter with God

The first word that you  receive from the Lord is what will keep you and give you hope Genesis 12:2-3. Abraham had an encounter with God, vs, 2state that God spoke to Abraham "I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and anyone that bless you I will bless him, and anyone that curse you I will curse him. The word of God that Abraham received when God spoke to him became his hope and his foundation. No matter what Abraham went through , the word that God spoke when he had an encounter with him came to pass.

According to the book of Exodus Chapter 10-30, Moses had an encounter with God. God spoke to Moses and he gave him a word and through that God sent Moses back to Egypt. Exodus Chapter 4:1; God took the weakness of Moses and he gave him his strength.  Anytime you have an encounter with God, he takes our weakness and replaces it with his strength (Joshua 1,8-9). Joshua had an encounter with God,God commanded Joshua to be courageous, be strong and of good courage;do not be afraid nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you. Anytime that God wants to do anything in our lives, He empowers us with his spirit.

The disciples of Jesus had an encounter with Holy Spirit (Acts 3 vrs 6) Peter who was weak and had denied Jesus 3 times; after he was filled with the Holy Ghost could boldly say "Silver and Gold I do not have but such as I have in the name of Jesus rise up and walk". According to the book of Acts ,Chapter 12:13 the weakness of Peter was taken away and the spirit of the Lord filled him. Prophet Isaiah said" Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, and they will soar on wings like eagles; they shall run and not go weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Jacob had an encounter with an angel of God. Genesis 22 vs 24-28. The angel asked Jacob, "What is you name?" and Jacob answered "My name is Jacob" the name Jacobs means a deceiver. The angel said to him "From today your name shall no longer be called Jacob but Israel".

According to the book of Genesis37:5 Joseph had an encounter with God in a dream.   The word that you receive from God when you have an encounter with him is important, and the decision that you take when you receive a word from the Lord is also very important.

When the Lord spoke to Abraham to leave his fathers house, he spoke to him alone, but Abraham left with Lot. When God speaks to us; we must be careful of the people that we walk with. From the time Abraham left with Lot, God did not bless Abraham.  Before Abraham separated from Lot, Lot had taken the good part of the land, and he left the rocky, and barren land for Abraham. Then Lord spoke to Abraham, saying" Lift up your eyes, and wherever the sole of your feet will tread upon I the Lord will give it to you". Then from there on;  the life of Abraham was not the same again. The only way to know God is to have an encounter with him. The only way to make a difference in your generation is to have an encounter with God. Going to Church does not mean you know God, until you have a personal relationship with God.
